About Sarah

Sarah Gorecki is a nonfiction editor specializing in outdoor guidebooks, sports and recreation, psychology and mindfulness, adventure narratives and memoir. In 2016, she founded Outdoor Prose, LLC, to provide copyediting and proofreading services to book publishers, nonprofits, and the outdoor industry.

Sarah has worked as an in-house managing editor, production editor, and publisher for VeloPress, Sounds True, and the Colorado Mountain Club Press, and as editor of Trail & Timberline magazine.

Prior to working in publishing, Sarah worked in nonprofit management and fundraising for outdoor and conservation nonprofits. She also worked as a wilderness ranger in Colorado and as a backcountry park ranger in Alaska. She holds a master’s of nonprofit management degree from Regis University, a degree in Philosophy from Colorado College, and a Certificate in Copyediting from UC San Diego Extension.

Sarah has been an avid backpacker since age five, and has thru-hiked the Colorado Trail. She lives in Golden, Colorado, and loves all things outdoors, especially hiking, Nordic skiing, backpacking, telemark skiing, and cycling.

Sarah was the recipient of the PubWest Executive Director’s award in 2016 and 2018, received the PubWest Jack W. Swanson scholarship in 2015, and served on the board of directors for PubWest. She is currently a board member of the Colorado Trail Foundation. In 2007, Sarah received the Karen Patterson Award for Commitment to Organizational and Community Development from Regis University.
